The Photograph Gallery
Joost van Bleiswijk and Kiki van Eijk current new work at VIVID Gallery in Rotterdam now by way of January 5, 2011. The works of Joost van Bleiswijk and Kiki van Eik on this exhibition reinforce one another in a constructive approach by means of juxtaposition — the robust power of Joost’s heavy metal plates towards the fragility of Kiki’s ethereal and fewer systematic buildings give a further rigidity to each artifacts.
For this exhibition Van Bleiswijk labored solely with thick metal plates and a blowtorch to create the “no screw no glue tough” version. He made sculptures that could possibly be artwork items but in addition used as tables or cabinets.
Van Eijk made the autonomous objects “Floating Frames” out of brass wire, including ceramic elements. On this work the development seems to be like little ink drawings. These restricted editions categorical her freedom of sketching in objects. They seem like actual life 3d sketches, through which you can clearly see the perform: a clock, a candle holder, lamp, and so forth.
