“On July 24, 1989, Attendees Of The Annual Johnson Pool Party Said They Saw Lights In The Sky Then Everyone Went Crazy”
Andrea Joyce Heimer paints “the dark/weird/hidden sides of the suburban landscape.” She’s shown in cities across the country, including Seattle, Austin, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Asbury Park, New Jersey. The images have a folk art feel, but are very much rooted in modern life as subject matter goes. For this week’s CMYLK column, we created Colourlovers palettes for three of her storied themes.
“They Found The Boy Drinking Mr. Patterson’s Pool Water. The Boy Was Covered In Hair And Howled Like A Wolf So We Think He Came Down From The Mountains. We Never Caught Him.”
“Mrs. Biehl Cut All The Neighborhood Kids’ Hair But Her Son Robert Said He’d Rather Die Than Cut His Hair.”
